South West Wales Regions - Pembrokeshire, Swansea & Carmarthenshire
In case you were in any doubt about just where and what West Wales is, here's a
handy geographical breakdown for your surfing, riding, diving, paddling
pleasure. West Wales consists of three distinct regions, each of them offering
unique landscapes and wide expanses of ever-changing coastline.
Swansea Bay
Swansea Bay is actually a little bit more than just the bay area, as it includes the Neath, Afan and Port Talbot areas. The steep sided valleys, forested hills and upland moors that make up the 'interior' of the region have some of the best mountain biking trails around. You'll find the coast around the Gower Peninsula is fantastic for both sailing and windsurfing, with many other activities on offer throughout the region.
Carmarthenshire
Carmarthenshire is the heart of South West Wales, its variant landscape offers some of the wildest terrain and quietest spots. Given its stunning beaches and coastline sailors, canoeists and kayakers will be in their element. Great trails for novice and experienced mountain bikers to go as wild or relaxed as they want to in quiet forestry and open hillsides, ideal for those wanting to get away from hectic mountain biking centres.
Pembrokeshire
There's so much outdoor action available in Pembrokeshire, you won't be able to fit it all into one trip. Take the sea kayaking. The area's national park coastline and islands provide some of the best kayak action in Europe for everyone from beginner to white water expert, but it would take years to explore all that's available.
